New Book on the History of The NCR

"The National Catholic Reporter has served as the Catholic guide to great writing, to profound social development, and to the truth-telling commitment that keeps the Catholic church itself alive and honest in the 21st century. May she maintain that tradition for the next 100 years for all our sake," wrote Joan Chittister as she endorsed the new book on the history of this newspaper.  Beacon of Justice, Community, and Hope: How NCR has sustained independent journalism from Vatican II to Pope Francis, by Lawrence B. Guillot, details the history of the newspapers' first six decades, including its coverage of the renewal of religious life. Learn more and order a copy here.
