Subscriber Mary J. sends these insightful comments regarding the May issue on standing up for what you believe:
I have two areas that I pray and fight for every day. The first is racial equality especially for Blacks. I think the White Privilege needs to end now. We are all God's children no matter what we look like, what our sexual orientation or religion. The sooner that this is realized especially in this country then the more peace and harmony there will be for everyone.
My second area that I pray and fight for every day is the stigma and prejudice that women carry in the world and especially in the Catholic Church. Women are still treated as second class individuals in this day and time. The patriarchal society refuses to acknowledge that women are truly equal in every way to men and many times superior. The Catholic Church still doesn't recognize that women can do the same things that men can do and should be allowed to be ordained not just as deacons but as priests as well.
If the world ever wakes up to these two ideas, it would be a much happier and peaceful place. —Mary J
