Tom Roberts, writer and long-time editor of the National Catholic Reporter, wrote an extended profile and obituary for Mary Lou Kownacki, which was published in the NCR online. He refers to Sister Mary Lou as a “Benedictine, peace activist and Joan Chittister's ‘muse,’” and details the influence she had on Sister Joan’s writing and thinking over their many years in community together.
