From Where I Stand: Remembering Tom Gumbleton

Joan Chittister's latest column in the National Catholic Reporter is in memory of her friend, Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, who died on April 4 this year. "I watched it all over and over again as the years went by. [Tom] never raised his voice. He never turned a statement into an argument or an argument into a war. He never derided people who thought differently than he did. He never, ever, asserted his ecclesiastical authority. He simply continued his call for peace, for justice, for the care of all the little ones everywhere," she writes. Click here to read the full piece.
