Sister Joan at Special Olympics Anniversary

“Sister Joan was on fire last weekend and made a great weekend spectacular,” said Kim Widdess Shriver. She was referring to the July 18-20 weekend at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port where Sister Joan presided over the opening ecumenical prayer service and gave the invocation at the closing dinner that ended the year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics. “My mother (Eunice Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics) loved that woman,” said Maria Shriver, pointing to Sister Joan at the dinner celebration, “and now you see why.”
