Joan Chittister was named as one of fifty Catholic women leaders who are overlooked by the Catholic Church in a recent article in The Tablet, the international Catholic weekly magazine. She was profiled along with Elizabeth Johnson, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Ivone Gebara, among others. The piece noted that “In one much-read blog, [Sister Joan] wrote about how many women told her that they had left the Catholic Church out of a sense of disillusionment and abandonment by an organization they once believed promised them fullnesss of life – ‘and then let them know it is their very persons that deny them that.’”  Reading the article requires a free registration with The Tablet.
