Maria Shriver shared how Joan Chittister and the Benedictine Sisters of Erie helped change her opinion of power while being interviewed on the NBC Today Show, Tuesday, Feb. 27. Shriver, who was being interviewed about her new book, I’ve Been Thinking: Reflections, Prayers and Meditations for a Meaningful Life, was asked to comment on the chapter, “What I Learned About Power from a Community of Nuns.” In that chapter, Shriver recounts her second visit to Erie, and notes that her experience with her friend Sister Joan and the community helped her realize that true power “comes from values, from beliefs, from purpose, from within.”
